I went to cable internet the 1st of April. I can NOT get rid of the dial up pop up window. I have done everything I can think of to get rid of it.

Messenger and Outlook express are the only two things the keep the pop up working. Can someone PLEASE help me get rid of it?

THANKS!!

Start Internet Explorer

Go to tools-->Internet Options--> Connections

1) Choose the radio button that saya Never Dial A Connection.

2)The choose the setup wizzard. There will be several questions about how you connect. Choose LAN or direct connection. That should solve.

As an alternative, if you have canceled the dial-up accounts. You can delete them.

Therein lies the problem. I have done everything listed and it still pops up!!

There is NOTHING in the boxes on the pop up window. Yet, I have to close it every time I access my email!! GRRRRR!!

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Let me guess, you have Windows XP? Also do you still have the dial-up accounts? Please advise.

Out of interest - which ISP were you using for dial-up?

I have never seen a direct reference to my ISP in my HJT log (the only reference to dial up being O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{00236F73-F182-4BAD-8DD0-7120153C996E}: NameServer = 194.145.128.1 194.125.2.206 which are its DNS settings).

When I installed my ISP, I used a floppy disk. Here is the HJT line than I deleted:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Wabash Valley Communications

Obviously, I couldn't delete it the normal way. I even went into add/remove programs, and removed it there. Still didn't do any good.

Bottom line is: The DURN thing is GONE!!! :D :D :D

What you did would also have been accomplished through deleting that key in the Registry.

That registry key is just a way of customising what shows in the Title Bar of IE - I don't see how it would affect the dial-up itself.

A bit of an enigma - unless the title bar is what you have called a pop up window.

Don't know what you installed from the floppy - perhaps it was a customised DialUp "Connectoid" from your ISP; these do appear in Add/Remove and can produce other customised effects and usually direct one their own webpage rather than any defaults that you may have set in IE.

He He - I hope April 1st has nothing to do with any of this.
