I've been trying to connect to IRC for 4 or 5 days now, and getting timed out error messages every time. Tried Linux till tonight, Mandrake 8.1 using KVirc client, tonight tried Win98, mIRC client, same thing and just tried the PC Guide Java Client (http://chat.pacific.net.sg/cgi-bin/javairc.pl?mychann=pcg&mystartbutt=no) twice, I get a "Cannot find server" page.

Since this is two different machines, 3 different methods of connecting, I don't think it's me or my computers. Internet works fine, (OK it's 31,200 tops, but works...), email works fine (ditto for speed) no problem with anything else. (Don't touch it BB66, :D )

Anyone else having trouble getting an IRC connection? Oh, I tried DALnet too, same thing.

Hmmm...just tried Undernet - meant to before posting - it connected so my mIRC is definitely working.. This is a test machine, just installed mIRC a few minutes ago, but was pretty sure it was ok. Just out of curiosity I've tried several networks, Undernet, EFnet, Chatnet, Galaxynet all work, I just connected to them all. Went back to Austent, no go, DALnet, nope..

Any ideas?

Just checked the Austnet website and they had this:
Over the past 24-36 hours, AustNet has been experiencing technical problems which have meant some servers are not available, and users cannot connect to others on the normal addresses..

I also just tried the australian austnet server and got on fine.

Thanks, and an update.

I finally got connected, then had to reboot, but it took 4 tries before it finally connected. Just did it again, so it's working, but not well...Past 4 or 5 nights it didn't connect at all. Going to try the Mandrake box before I hit the sack, which won't be long, but going to also do some looking around first, if I can get my browser to stay open. Getting the infamous MSHTML illegal operation message, so windoze doesn't like my video driver...

I haven't been able to connect either...been letting it cycle through the Austnet servers so maybe I will find one that lets me on.
