Would you like to be able to select which application to use to open a file type from a list in the right click menu?
You right-click on a file and go to "Open With...".
The user can select which applications to add to the list [and later remove if so wished].

This is done using "OpenExpert", which is free from here

I forgot to mention that i was not talking about R-clicking any file/folder but right clicking on the desktop and the corresponding menu. Actually i have a habit of R-clicking and refreshing the desktop almost every 10 seconds. There are some options related to my Graphics controller (Intel Extreme Graphics) that appear in it and cause a little delay in the appearance of the right click menu. I want to get rid of these options. These include:

Save As Scheme...
Graphics Options >
Display mode >

I have disabled the tray icon for the Graphics controller programm but the options continue to appear as before. However, i have noticed that if i click on the "Show desktop" (minimizing all the open windows) the right click menu opens up in a flash without showing these options in it.

BTW how can i disable any program from launching with Windows boot up (in Win-XP)

Be aware that the proper name for the right-click menu is the "Context Menu".
The reason for this name is very logical.
All the items listed in the context menu depend upon the "Context" in which it is produced.
In other words:
The particular "object" [a file or folder etc] clicked upon determines what can be done with that object and so determines the list.
The list is constructed by the Windows shell [Explorer] by retrieving lots of information from multi-various locations in the registry.
It would be VERY complex [and potentially troublesome] to eliminate these reversibly.
The Desktop is basically a Folder.
Or rather the display of the contents of a folder.
Its address [in Windows 98 at least] is "C:\Windows\Desktop".
Go there and you will see most of the "objects" [files in this case (that are all under user control)] that are shown on the desktop.
If you arrange a Windows Explorer window so that you can right-click in this folder and then on the desktop you will see that the two context menus are almost identical.

Now, what I am wondering is:
How is your graphics controller involved with your desktop?
Are you certain you are clicking only on your desktop and not on an object that is ON your desktop?
Surely it is not possible to "Save [your desktop] as [a] scheme"?
Or to select "Graphics Options" for your desktop?
Or to select a "Display Mode" for your desktop?
Those are certainly not options available for my [Win98] desktop.
These are probably actions/settings that can be applied to some object other than your desktop.

How to Modify the List of Programs that Run When You Start Windows XP

I've never disabled a startup item in XP, only in Win98, and I use "Msconfig" as below.

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP

In Win98 I use "Msconfig" at the "Start->Run->Open" command, then go to the "Startup" tab and untick the program that I don't want to run at startup.
