See the last page of the recent "Spyware Forum Poll".

In particular, the "bootcamp" and "classroom" links, and other links to helpful HJT info Steve provided in two of his posts.

The Merijn.org tutorial is a good basic read, just to get you started in understanding what it is you're seeing in a log.

One of the nice things about Merijn's tutorial is that he provides links to the appropriate tools where needed. If you go thru it, item by item, researching each entry, you will get a very good idea on what to fix in the logs.

If you have any questions, just ask. Someone is bound to have an answer.

Who knows? I think you'll find him (or at least his influence) at all the security sites. They all hang out together. ;)

Probably so. He wrote it....:D

You can always check out his website...http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html

Merijn is all over the security forums and has mirrors everywhere for the programs produced...

stefanus,

Weren't you enrolled in the Classroom or Boot Camp?? If not, you can certainly join one to learn...

You are correct Budfred. I did enroll in The Class Room but did not feel asquite at ease as I do here:o All in the class room appear to be Pro`s in the true sense of the word ,and did not want to disclose my complete and utter ignorance of the subject. In other words I did not have a clue where to start :o :D Now I am going to take the bull by the horns and join in. Tried Merijn`s site but did not take in much. Maybe I was looking in the wrong direction. Thanx all for the input and links.

stefanus,

The level of expertise in there varies tremendously and the range is even greater in Boot Camp... We have some people who barely know how to turn on their computers and we have others who are writing code to fix some of the malware problems... You learn at your own pace and there probably isn't a better place to learn today....
