Hi all,

I do Win XP Home updates manually, very careful about doing so. But recently, when I go to the updates page and get the list of new critical updates, I click the button to start the download, and nothing happens, they don't donwload to my computer. I am not sure what is causing this, though I vaguely remember a few years ago something similar with Win 98 and I had to clear out a few things in windows to get it working again. I have no problems downloading otherwise, and am up to date on virus files. I also regularly scan for spyware.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you type services.msc in the Run command, and when looking at the list of services that appear, what is the status of the Windows update?
Is it automatic, manual, or disabled?

Thanks, Quantax, that was it. I had completely disabled update in services when I tweaked my services. I should have left it at manual. As soon as I changed it accordingly, everything was fine. Great call. Thanks again.
