Here's the idea, there is a computer with a dial-up connection to the internet, let's call it "Computer A", and it's running Win98SE.

There is a second computer, called "Computer B" :D which is running Win95OSR2.

These two computers are now linked with a serial null modem cable, tested and working fine.

I would like to enable computer "B" to connect to the internet via computer "A".

Is this connection possible with RS232 cables or am I supposed to use Ethernet cards for this purpose? What is the driver combination required for this; as far as I can tell there is no way to assign RS232 link as a 'network adapter' in Control Panel/Networks.

I'm reasonably certain that you will need ethernet cards and a cross over cable or ethernet cards, a hub and standard cables to do what you are asking.

If I'm wrong, then someone will be along shortly to put me in my place! The RS232 connection you have now is basically for file access(copying and moving).

The good news is ethernet cards are cheap!

Hang around, someone else with more experience will chime in.

Good luck!

I think the biggest problem you'll encounter is that Internet Connection Sharing started with 98se. No such thing in 95. :(

Someone might know of another way to do it though.

I hope so, anyway...:)

Just a note, your going to find that sharing a dial up connection, if the setup works, to be painfully slow. Especially if both computers are logged on the same time.
