I, Savitha.H.J. had purchased a legal copy of Mcafee Anti virus 5.12. System configuration is as follows Celeron – 333Mhz, 81 MB Ram, 4.3 GB Hard disk with Windows 98 loaded on it. A virus named W32/Funlove.4099 had infected our system. But Mcafee was not able to remove the virus, though it detected the virus. So after scanning several times the virus still was pre dominant. Later it was removed by using Norton single executable file called fixfun. But we formatted the hard disk later on and reloaded O.S. But after loading Mcafee windows does not load in normal mode, and hangs in the start up screen, though it works in safe mode. After we remove Mcafee the system loads windows in normal mode. After installing Mcafee, we updated the anti virus data base file and scanned the system for virus. But no virus was detected . After restarting windows does not load and hangs in the start up screen. Please give a relevant solution at the earliest, as we are not using any anti virus other than Mcafee which is a legal copy.
