Hi,

I have Windows 98SE. I recently upgraded my Windows Media Player to the current version. Just after that, I booted up and started to use the Media Player. To my surprise I had a messge saying: Failed to load resource DLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\OLE DB\OLEDB32A.DLL. When I click OK to clear it, it does not go off until I reboot.

What is wrong with my system?
What can I do to solve it and mainteain the Media Player upgraded?

I appreciate any help to get this problem solved.
Thanks.

Welcome to the guide mawautor

Try uninstalling the media player from add/remove programs, then reinstall it and see if that does the trick.

Hello mawutor,

Welcome to PC Guide Forums!

I noticed that you are starting a new posting with your response, rather than posting a reply. It helps those assisting if we can keep problems, suggestions, and results in a single line of thought. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

When you try a suggestion would you post by means of a reply....

I'm going to paste your reply from your other post (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002556.html) so those tracking this problem can see what's happened so far...

I have uninstall and reinstall the Media Playr version 7.1 but somewhere 47% through the installation the problem came up again.
Ths time it came with another message box saying " An error occured while Windows was working with control panel file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MAIN.CPL
Can someone show me how to install Win 98 SE over the existing in order to see if it will help clear it.

Thanks.

You might have a corrupt download of the upgrade Media Player. You might want to consider downloading the upgrade again. Then, try uninstalling and reinstalling with the "fresh" upgrade. As Diurnal suggested be sure to do this through the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Also Main.cpl is the contol panel applet for the mouse...if this happened during a boot it probably means nothing more than something else was trying to load when the mouse was being intialized, if it happened at another time, then it could indicate a problem with the mouse driver...
