day/month switch. How to swap date.

WinXp Pro machine has a problem. When Windows shuts down it exchanges the day and date so next time I boot, the date is wrong. For example on 1st June I set the date to 1/6/04 but whan I reboot it is 6/1/04 - 6th January 04. Next day it is not 2/6/04 but 6/2/04.

If I boot off a Win98 floppy the date is held perfectly.
I have replaced the CMOS battery, reinstalled (update) Win XP Pro.
My regional settings are all set for the British style (d/m/y).

Change the selection to another country(US for example), restart the computer so it takes effect, then change back to the British setting, and restart again. See if that works.

Check that the time format is as you want it - whatever country is set.
