This is a bunch of crap, if no DNA it is not a bacteria or a virus, duh.

Yes they can, but if you use Eraser they won't be there. Deleting something on a PC is usually simply removing the first letter of the directory so the computer cannot locate the file anymore, the file remains intact on the hard drive. Utilities like Eraser overwrite the deleted files with ones and zeros, so the files are much harder to recover. Never assume a hard drive is erased unless such a utility is used when donating a computer or replacing a hard drive.
