All right so I've had the problem for few months already, but no I got to write it out from my chest.

I got this typical internal ADSL modem inside my computer, it's installed good, the drivers are right, I got all the protocols, network adapters etc. etc. installed.

But as the modem starts connecting, it just goes trought mostly these stages:
Attempting to activate line --> (Something) --> Channel analysis --> (Rarely) Exchange.
After the Channel Analysis / Exchange the line goes down, this thing keeps being repeated for SEVERAL hours (the record is over 50 hours, "When you want a fast way to the internet" - Heh.).

So the service provider customer support suspected that it'd be somewhere in the plugs (or something).

So, anyone had a similiar problem or knows a way to get rid of this?

Note that the house I live in is a very old flat.

I don't really have any experience with DSL, but I have read that the quality of the phone lines does affect it. So theoretically having some bad connections, old wires, and an incorrect installation could cause connection and bandwidth problems. I would go out and buy a new phone jack and some wire, then run new wire from the point of entry and terminate with the new jack. Wouldn't cost very much, and wouldn't take to much time either. Then you could eliminate that as a possible cause.

It's real real real simple. Call the ISP and demand an external DSL modem. If it does not include a router, purchase one. Once you get the modem/router combo or the modem and router as seperate devices, uninstall the DSL software and you will be on line in 5 minutes from that point.
