I see where Newegg.com has refurbished Abit NF-7 motherboards. Anyone have any experience with refurbished items from Newegg? I am willing to gamble somewhat but don't want to take the chance if other people have had lots of problems.
Thanks for your opinions!

I buy refurbs all of the time.

I just got an Acer Celeron 2.5 ghz with 1 40mb HDD 256 MB RAM, CD-ROM, Win XP professional, on board sound/video/NIC for $285.00....

So here goes my speech.

How much do you save?

What do you give up?

For example, new mobo with 1 yr warranty $150.00

Refurb $125.00 with 90 day warranty, probably not,

Refurb $100.00 with 90 day warranty maybe

Refurb $75.00 with 90 warranty, sure why not.

In the above example all prices are fictional and are for demonstration purposes only.
So there you have it, you usually give up something like a lesser warranty. How much value are you giving up. There are times I go for the refurb and times I get the new it just depends....

Also, you might want to factor in whether you're purchasing for yourself, or assembling a rig for someone else...

Let me explain where I'm coming from, maybe that will help. I bought an OEM Epox 8KHA+ "new" from Ebay. It has been a great mobo but has two bulging capacitors that are starting to affect USB/mouse. Used that $25 mobo to learn how to do so many things without fear of major fubars.

So I'm not averse to taking a chance...I try to get as much info as possible before I buy...kind of an informed gamble if you will.
Newegg has a good rep and I feel, even with a refurbished item, they wouldn't put out junk. BUT, I thought I'd use the resources of this excellent forum to "investigate further".

Most of my fun comes from overcoming a little adversity/uncertainty. Just a tinkerer at heart I guess!

Thanks for the replies and BTW all the other help you guys/gals have given me recently.
