I recently brought my computer home from college and switched it from the University network to an in home LAN - DSL shared through a Netgate Router.
Since connecting to the router some websites with dynamic content have become inaccessable. For example, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Groups display the list of messages but not the content of each meassage. On LiveJournal I can read and comment in other journals but cannot update my own journal or upload images.
The same thing always happens: the staus bar loads to halfway, IE stalls, then the "Page Cannot Be Displayed, DNS Error" message appears.

In addition, some websites do load fully but i'm immediately redirected to http:\\\ (which obviously doesn't load). When I press the back button the redirection happens again.
I should note, these problems are only in IE6, everything loads or uploads properly through AOL.
I've run McAffee AntiVirus, AdAware 6, and Spybot Search & Destroy. I also have set up port forwarding for HTML, FTP, POP3, SMTP, and IMAP4 to get around the router's built-in firewall. But the problems persist. Please help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ETA: I couldn't even post to this forum! I typed it all out and when I clicked submit I got the message "No forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster." I did the exact same thing in AOL and posted without a problem!

Sounds like a firewall type problem to me. Are you running a software firewall? You may have to open the ports that the software (your having problems with,) is using on the router, as well.. I'll bet if you did some research you would notice that several of the blocked apps use the same port number. Opening those ports could solve your problem.

You could also try a packetsniffer (ethereal) to see what is being sent back and forth and which packets are getting dropped. This is how I focus my filter lists for IPSec. You can also use DNS names.
