While running Adaware 6 I received a stop error 0x0000050 symevent.sys page fault in nonpaged area. Any ideas what may have caused this and how to remedy?

I would uninstall and reinstall Adaware 6.
There might be posts in their support forums regards this problem.

This MSKB Article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q239415) doesn't relate to the same error message, but tells me it's a Norton file NOT adaware that's causing the problem.

After looking through a few hits on a google search, I found a couple of suggestions to download the Symevent Update (http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/files/symevnt/symevnt.html) to fix or help fix various problems related to this file, which is apparently installed with just about anything from Norton. Might be worth a try.

Just spent about a half hour searching google and can't find a thing on that error message no matter how I try to rearrange keywords. The MSKB link posted above is the only specific error message I found in about 60 hits.

Based on a description of this error, you might also consider uninstalling your anti-virus software but doing it in Safe mode.

The other possibility is a problem with actual physical memory itself.

Thank you for your help. I will install the norton update and post back in a few days. Thanks again.
