I'm fixing my friends computer and I'm noticing some IRQ settings that I'm not sure about. He has two hard drives a regular CD ROM and a CD-RW. When I go to the System Information I get the following:

IRQ 3 SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
IRQ 3 IRQ Holder for PCI steering
IRQ 10 Phillips Rythmic Edge Audio
IRQ 10 IRQ holder for PCI Steering
IRQ 11 Maxi Gamer Cougar PCI
IRQ 11 IRQ Holder for PCI Steering
IRQ 14 Primary IDE Controller for (dual fifo)
IRQ 14 SiS 5513 Dual PCI IDE Controller
IRQ 15 Secondary IDE Controller (dual fifo)
IRQ 15 SiS 5513 Dual PCI IDE Controller

Since he has 4 drives I don't think there is any conflict on the 14 and 15
but what about 3,10 and 11. Any help will be appreciated

Hello Francisco,

Welcome to the PC Guide Forums!

Have you been into DEVICE MANAGER to see if there are any (!) or (?) showing up?

The design of PCI devices is to enlist IRQ sharing, and therefore many devices can work alongside each other without causing problems.

If you have a PnP PCI device and you have IRQ sharing enabled (which is the default for Windows) then you will have a holder for sharing on the same IRQ as the device. The drive controller is normal.
