I'm confused, as usual :)

I'm trying to connect to the pcguide irc channel by following these (http://www.pcguide.com/ircpcg.htm) steps, but for some reason, I can't connect.

I can connect to Quakenet and such, so the connection is there, it just seems that Austnet isn't serving Europe anymore. Is there a way I still can connect?

I have been having problems with it also.
It takes a very long time to get the connection.

Retry after retry after retry

Why ??

But it does connect after a long while

BTW.
I ended up using the CA server and it worked a bit faster

Must be some server problems.

I just tried the australian server and it connected no probs.

Hmm, oddness. I'll try again later, might just be a wonky eu-server.

I wasn't online long last night, so I didn't see this. Just logged onto us.austnet.org and had no trouble, but did take a couple of minutes. That's normal for some reason on this machine, the Windows box connects in about 15 seconds almost every time, Mandrake takes 1 1/2-2 minutes. Haven't tried the servers down under in a while, but they've always worked pretty well too.

Sometimes the java client from the website has trouble now and then, but a stand-alone client like mIRC or KVIrc usually works pretty well unless the servers are down or overcrowded. Then nothing but gasoline and a hand grenade will get any results...

I tried the embedded client in mozilla and a standalone mIrc client. Both gave the same results:

- I can connect to obscure asian servers, but the shove me off immediatly and tell me to find a server nearer to me
- Servers that are nearer to me won't let me connect, at all. Not even after 10+ minutes of steady trying.

What I find strange is that they don't list any eu-servers. I'm gonna mail them, maybe they're not servicing my part of the world at the moment. Will let you know what they have to say.
