Do any of you have an opinion on the value of the CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) certification offered by Prosoft. I'm a technology teacher with a prodominately applications and networking background. Most of that is with AutoCAD, Office, Macromedia and others. I had the old MCSE in NT4, but found that I really wasn't getting to use it in the school system, so I'm a little bit rusty.
There are a number of levels in the CIW cert that may be useful to me when I transition out of teaching in a couple of years (I'm 56). Are there other certs that may be more valuable, i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, etc?
Thanks.

You've already hit the nail on the head. It will depend entirely on how well it will serve you in the future. I have found that in many cases a certification may help but then again it may not. I currently maintain several certifications through BrainBench.com and have found that they are equally on par with most of the other certifications in my area. I have also found that even the free certifications through BrainBench are enough to prove my skills and worth to prospective clients.

It really does come down to how much you will use it and how important it will be to prospective clients that you come into contact with.

You might also want to do some google research to see just how widely it is recognized. Especially the recognition factor in your area.
