Over the past month i have noticed i am getting a lot more system lockups when trying to watch videos, and now on almost every page I open, it never completely loads the page, (1 item remaining all the time). I went to device manager, and looking around I noticed that under computer/view resources/memory it has one entry for all other hardware, but for the video card it has 6 entries. I have had this video card for about 8 months, and just started having these problems, but have installed nothing new in the past 6 or so. I like to play card games at www.pogo.com (http://www.pogo.com) but now it will not load completely, i just recently re-installed virtual machine hoping that would fix it, but it didnt make one bit of difference.

How do i find the correct BIOS settings for that card and the MB, i think they may be wrong, I never changed any of them when i got the card, I think maybe memory is leaking that way.

Please help. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

It's normal for the video card to have several memory addresses attached to it-it is a high use item.

Sounds to me like either you've got too many temp files hanging around { delete anything you have with a *.tmp extension ) clean out your temporary internet files folder-this can cause slow downs check your isp and your phoneline/dsl whatever-if you're not able to completely download a web site it's usually a connection problem-not anything to do with your video.

These are just some basic steps to try and troubleshoot your problem. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

All three of the solutions you suggested are done, I am networked to a comp upstairs, and it DL's at 130K a sec (DSL), and mine used to do that back when Napster was around, but has gradually slowed down to around 30K.

I found a link posted by Pentacris in the topic SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY PC, and am gonna attempt to optimize my swap file according to the instructions there, maybe this will help.....will post back shortly, if this thing will even download the utility.

I was trying to print out the section for the utility and highlighted it and selected print, now 4 minutes later it finally started printing, hope I have enough time left before it uses all my memory.

I could not download the utility, it downloaded about 700 K of it, then stopped. This has got me going crazy. Can't figure it out, no matter what i try, so maybe after the holiday will just take it in to the shop where i bought all the pieces for it and get them to fix it, might cost a little, but I am sure my MB is angry at me by now, haha.

Thanks. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Say Bmpkns,
Before you go spending your hard earned cash, you might try Bob's tip.
Here is another, Run a virus scan!
You don't need a utility to "optimize" your swap file. If you want to see whats up with it, do this, Start>settings>control panel>system>performance>virtual memory. This is where you choose to "Let Windows handle it" or set it yourself. I really don't beleive that is your problem though as this has been a progressive situation. Increasing virtual memory to handle system load is not effective troubleshooting. Eliminating system load is.
Good luck and keep us posted http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif
"EDIT" Sorry, after rereading I see that you have tried Bob's tips.

Also, unless you have on board video (the vidoe card built into the motherboard) that shares memory with the rest of the system the video card is not likely to be the problem...lockups playing videos/games can be a sign that the drivers are not quite up to the task, that there are too many "junk" files (iisbob & bassman, both suggest a clean up)....and if you are having a problem downloading a file over 700kb I think that a radical cleanup is in order, alos the number of programs that run in the background will directly affect preformance when playing videos/games...

Ok. The whole problem points to the networking hub I have downstairs. I had taken it out and had two computers hooked up, and it was working fine, just yesterday re-installed the hub and problems again on my machine, and the one just plugged into it. I went to Office Depot here in town and the guy there said it is probably the hub, and i didnt even need a hub, just move the router downstairs where the hub is, and run a cable back to the where it was and plug that into the computer up there. Now all three are directly plugged into the router, and all dl at 150 to 200 K a sec.

Everything working fine now, nothing was ever wrong with the video card I guess, i was just trying to reach a solution. I took the hub apart and noticed the connections inside were showing surface rust, which slowed down everything. Threw the dang thing away, and now up and running.

Thanks for trying to help out guys, I guess my signature rings true on this one.

Glad ot hear that you are back up....yeah I guess if the internal connections on the hub were corroded that would slow things down, you may want to look into the humidity situation where it is installed.
