My son somehow moved my desktop so as it was at right angles sorted it by system restore , but out of curiosity how can you sort such a problem by mouse & keyboard .

Depends on how it was done in the first place. Possible that it was just the taskbar that was moved. Right click the taskbar, select unlock taskbar, then while holding the left mouse button down on the bar, drag it to either side.
Or, if you have an ATI graphics card, right click the desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > Rotation, and the whole desktop can be rotated 90 degrees left or right or a full 180 degrees. Quite disorienting.

This happened on one of my Computers too.
I simply put two rather large blocks of wood under one side of my chair and also tilted my head a bit.
Besides the stiff neck, the other problem I developed is that I got so used to it, the "normal" display on my other Computers started to look strange.
Sure glad you got it sorted out...;)

Glad you fixed it, I just left click and hold the clock and tug the taskbar toward where I want it to go, in case it happens again.

If your monitor lets U tilt the the image on the screen is posible that Ur son found this. It should be on the front of Ur monitor, it depends on what type monitor U have.
