Could this be a virus?

When I boot up the RAM check is very, very slow.....many hours when we left it on for the night. We could get into the CMOS (after many hours at 192 mb RAM)and set to factory defaults but the same problem occurred. Changed the battery, pulled each RAM (have two 32's and one 128) and left a 32 in. That doesn't seem to be the problem. We let it boot (2 - 3 hours) and managed to get into Windows but it hung up there. (all looks OK on the harddrive - I was able to check it through a network before it hung up on me)

Before I could virus scan the decision was made to upgrade the BIOS with instructions from Intel. Now we are not able to do anything. Just a screen that says: Intel Motherboard

(Computer info: Intel SE440BX BIOS 4S4EBOX1.86A.0011.P04 Motherboard)

Any suggestions????

Problem solved.......

It was the BIOS and updating it worked....the Intel Motherboard screen was just a title page while the new setup was taking place in the background.

Gee, I wish they would tell you these things in the instructions! It would have saved a few hours and several bootup attempts.

Anyway, thought I would post in case anyone else needs this info.

Well...

All is well that end's well. Had me thinking
there for a while. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

The SE440BX (Seattle) is a good 'ol Mboard.
Still have one gathering dust in my parts room.

Was the last board I used before I saw the
light and moved on to AMD. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

BTW Windoz is definitely going to hang
using 32MB of RAM. Suggestion: Use a couple
sticks of quality PC100 SDRAM. That Mboard
will handle 768MB total but that's some overkill.

Luck.
