I just came back from vacantion and I forgot the password (in the BIOS) that I need to BOOT the computer, so I couldn't enter in my computer anymore, so I removed the CMOS Battery, then waited, then re-entered in my computer. I went back into the BIOS to put a new Password but it doesn't work anymore... I tryed both a user and a supervisor pwd, but it will only ask me the password if I ENTER the BIOS, and not to enter in the Computer, which I need. My BIOS is Award v4.51PG. I hope you can help me cuz I need to make it work before I leave here, thx a lot!

Hi and Welcome,
Check the motherboard manual to which jumper it is that clears the CMOS. Or, maybe if the silkscreening is clear enough on the motherboard, you can see it by visually inspecting.
The jumper should have pins 1 and 2 shorted for Normal operation. What you need to do, is place the jumper over pins 2 and 3 momentarily. Then, place the jumper back where it was, over pins 1 and 2. That should clear any password in BIOS.
Try to power up and see what happens. Post back with your progress.

Hmmmm.
What you're saying is ....... You don't remember
your password as far as getting in to Windoz? You
need your Operating System password?
The CMOS(BIOS) password is an all together area of
concern.
When you get to Windoz try hitting excape or delete
and see if it will let you in.
Maybe I'm just mixed up here. Getting old. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif
Luck.

I found it by myself, but thx anyway, I don'T think my explanation was very clear hehe. It was an option in the BIOS, "Something Security" and I had 2 chooses: Setup or System
Setup: Will ask ther password only to ENTER in the BIOS. (it was there)
System: Will ask the password to enter the BIOS AND to boot the OS. (I needed that)
So the bottom line is that it was on System, then when I removed the battery it reseted the BIOS, and in it's default settings it seems that this option is on "Setup". I changed it back to System, and it ask me the password again to boot. All is ok now, thank you, I'm more intelligent now lol!
