Ping

On a UNIX system, if I want to see if a node is online, I PING it. Can I do that here at home on a Windows system and if so how?

Just open a command prompt window.

Find the shortcut to it from the start menu or type cmd or command into the run box to open it.

You would think that a system engineer with 24 years experience on computers would have known that. Guess I had a brain fart. Thanks.

BTW, although I've never been there, my heritage is Irish ... more precisely Scotch-Irish. Family tree goes back to the 1600s, a little place south of Gasgow called Sterling. Family name is Kincaid.
