Just to ensure the obvious...
The power cord is receiving power?
The power supply switch is turned on (if applicable)?
When you press the power button on the case, nothing happens?
:o
thanks i thought the power switch on the power supply would turn it on.
when i pushed the frount switch everything seems to be working duh!
thanks

Not a problem. Even us Experts have problems with the obvious on occassion.
hi! i am really in trouble now. after turning the computer on two or three times now it really won't turn on, ican't emagine what is happining. all i did was add a fan that was'nt hooked up. i checked to see if i had any loose wires none. also i have a 480 watt thermaltake power supply and a v7000 thermaltake case. i have sent them numerous e-mails to there tech dept. and have yet to get an answer. the ps has more leads coming out of it then you can emagine. both seem to be good quality but they don't communicate.

Have you tried unplugging the fan that you plugged in?
As long as it is not the CPU fan try running without it.

If you're gonna run the COU without the fan, DO NOT RUN IT FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES OR ELSE A RISK OF FIRE, (exagerration) WILL OCCUR!. Seriously, the motherboard may burn out...
i tried it with the fan i installed disconected.

PLEASE start looking up the correct information before posting. Current CPUs won't last more than 10 SECONDS, maybe 15 seconds if you're really lucky, without a heatsink and fan. They get that hot that fast.
It won't burn the motherboard out, the CPu will be fried long before that happens, you'll get no video and possibly see smoke, I doubt if anyone would leave their machine running for 30 minutes. 30 seconds and you'll definitely KNOW you have a problem.
Any CPU more current than a P-233 MMX MUST have a heatsink and fan, anything faster than about a P-III 500 will overheat to the point of fatal damage in well under 30 seconds. New chips, in the 3GHz range, 10 seconds is all you can expect.
If you want to help here, fine, but start looking things up and be sure you know what you're talking about, continuing to post misinformation will not work.

I am familiar with the Thermaltake Xaser V 7000 series cases(I almost bought one) and know that they are pre-modded cases with as many as 5 pre-installed case fans 2-80mm and 3-92mm depending on the model which is not given.
His PSU(maybe the same as mine) has 2-80mm fans. The inside fan in his PSU has an RPM sensor wire for the PSU fan header on the motherboard and a fan speed controller that mounts in a front 5 1/4 bay or a rear PCI slot.
What happens when you press the power button?
I think that we need more details on your whole system. Make a list like the one in my signature.
HI!
fistly i would like to know if i am replying right.
the stuff i have is as follows.
thermaltake v 700 case and 480 watt power supply.
asrock motherboard p4s55fx
512 mb ram pc 2700 ddr (atlas precision)
2.6ghz pentium cpu 800 fsb
1.44 mb sony floppy mpf 920
80 gb western digital hard drive 7200 rpm 8 mb wd800jb 0/0
i hav't got any cards yet. following instructions from pc for dummies
after i had mother board installed and all available wires hooked up i
tried turning it on with good results 2 or three times then nothing.
the ribon cables to cpu are not hooked up i just put power to the hard drive per instructions from thermatake manuel. i have removed the power plug from the mb did a continuety test on the switch couldn't get continuety pushing on and off. would it screw the works up if i shorted the two termanels on the mb. thanks for the help tubg

Wait until you get all of your parts mainly a video card before you try anything else!
The first process when the power button is pushed and the boot process starts the system BIOS will try to find the video BIOS(on the video card) so that it can initialize the video and display the POST routine results and/or error messages. If the system BIOS doesn't find the video BIOS the POST will not start and because audio is not initialized yet you may not even get an error beep code the boot process will end in an error before the POST even starts.
following instructions from pc for dummies
after i had mother board installed and all available wires hooked up i
tried turning it on with good results 2 or three times then nothing.
What were these "good" results!
Without a video card the results couldn't have been good!
i have removed the power plug from the mb did a continuety test on the switch couldn't get continuety pushing on and off.
The power button on the front of the case is a momentary switch normally open. Continuity can only be achieved when the button is pushed and held completing the circuit.
would it screw the works up if i shorted the two termanels on the mb.
???
If you are referring to the terminals labeled CLRCMOS1 no because there is nothing in the CMOS to clear yet.
thanks for the help i'll wate for the vidio card should be in tommarow.
