Router help
I have a Linksys 3 port router which I installed about 3 years ago.
I have a friend who is going to buy one and is now on Cable DSL.
I can't remember what I need to do on the "software" side to install it.

Your friend should get an install disk with the router. Run that to set up the router then go to "Network Connections" and follow the "Set up a new network connection" path.
Oh yea, what OS?

If it is a hrad wired router as opposed to wireless. You can actually do this without any software at all.
It all depends on the power up order when you have hard wired.
Power everything off.
Then Power up in order.
The Modem,
The Router,
Then any/all swithced hubs you may have attached to the router
The power up any/all print servers
Last power up your systems

Everyone is right, but the best is just to follow the directions that come with the new router. It comes with a cd and will make it very easy and simple whether hardwired or if it's equipped to handle it wireless.
