OS: Win XP

I'm getting rid of a coworker's spyware using Spybot which I successfully downloaded and ran. But when I click Fix selected problems I get the normal "Spybot Search and Destroy is creating a System Restore pont before it starts to fix the problems you have selected...This window will automatically close when the System Restore point activitx has been finished" and it hangs. Apparently no System Restore point is created and I have to close Spybot without fixing the problems.

How important is the System Restore point for Spybot purposes? I can disable this function in Advanced Mode of Spybot and I'm tempted to do so. But those doggone warnings always give me pause.

You can always set a restore point manually before running Spybot, and then use advanced options to disable this function.

Well, m'self, I'm partial to reinstalling whenever a program gives me some grief that I cannot handle, and the first thing I'd do is re-install Spybot, update, and try again. There was a n update three days ago, did you get that?

Edit: Also, are you using either Adaware or A-Squared with it? It's my experience that Adaware catches more than SpyBot, and I run A-squared once a week just to cross check.
