Does the virus Pate.b spread through networks? I think so, but just to make sure. My old Dell got killed by the virus, so I stopped networking. Is this a smart idea? I connect through the internet by an ethernet cable directly to the router. I connect to the internet on all other computers by using those Netgear household current things: http://www.netgear.com/images/products/large/xe102.jpg

We have 3 of them, one for my dad's SONY VAIO, my mother's Dell XPS T550, and my XPS T450, now it will be used for the awaiting hp a650Y. I connect to the internet on the rarely used laptops by a wireless network adapter for notebooks. All but SONY, Dell XPS t550, and one of the laptops were networked.

This is an encrypted parasitic file-infecting virus and network aware worm.

I had to format my hdd because it would not let me access anything after I ran a virusscan. Now the computer is dead since the CD-rom broke in the middle of the XP reinstallation. Numerous xp cds tried, none worked. Thanks for the info.
