My home network keeps losing network connectivity on reboot. I am using XP Professional and have used the Wizard to set up the network. I have found that i have to run the wizard a couple of times before the network appears. Then when I reboot all connectivity is lost and the wizard has to be run again. It all works fine if i do not turn the computer off.
Any Ideas?

What do you mean by loose connectivity? Please give more detail.
Do you have mapped drives..??

It is a basic setup through a Hub. No maped drives, i have only used the network wizard available in XP to set up the network.
The main computer has the internet connection which is a shared connection.
What is actually happening is, after setting up the network using the wizard initially everthing works fine, we are able to connect to the web by any PC on the network and we are able to share everything that has the rights.
When the main PC is shut down for the night, the network is lost on start up, and the wizard has to be rerun to get the network back up.
It is a simple setup so i do not understand why the connection is lost after reboot.
Thanks for your assistance
Mike

How do you get on line? Who is your ISP?
When you re-start, you have to let the server start-up and get to the logon screen and better yet the desktop before re-starting the other computers.
What happens when you go into my network places?
Can your search by name?
Can you ping the server?
Can you search by IP address?

1. How do you get on line? Who is your ISP?
A) This is a dialup service, and it is with iiNet.
2. When you re-start, you have to let the server start-up and get to the logon screen and better yet the desktop before re-starting the other computers.
A) The main computer is the one losing the settings the other computers are ok. The main computer has the internet connection and acts as the server.
3. What happens when you go into my network places?
A) When you go into the network places it only sees itself.

The only thing I could think of is to check to see if the computer automatically checks for the network.
Open My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View >
Have a check in the box for 'Automatically search for network folders and printers'.

This is a pretty weird problem. I wonder if you have set permissions on your drive that may not allow the changes to kept at log off. That is the only reason why I see that your network settings are not saved when you power off. The other thing you need to do is stop using DHCP and simply assign static IP's. This will bypass DHCP problems and get your network up and running. The network setup wizard is not needed to set up networking. It is really not complicated at all. Check here for a lot of good info.
