I am wondering that if a schol wants to buy a computer for wordprocessing and editing(assignments)tasks so which computer would be better to buy an imac or PC? and why?

Is that all that the machine is going to be used for? If so, my answer would be: neither. It's a waste of money to buy a new PC just for such simple tasks. You can find a used machine for half the cost to do what you want. And if it's for a school you might even find someone willing to donate an older PC for free. That's what I would do.

I would agree, if all the machine is to be used for is a word processor, the resale papers have P-200-266 machines aplenty for half as much or less the price of a new computer. A new one would be a good idea for more all around use, instructional purposes, CAD classes, graphics classes and such.
The Mac/PC question is a topic that brings on debates, but I would go with a PC mainly for software availability.
