Hello ianhomersimpson,

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

It's possible that you might need to enable the USB in the BIOS...would you provide some system information, MB, OS, etc.?

Well what info do you have about it?

Most often an expansion hub that plugs into an existing USB header doesn't need any software...about the only thing I can think of is that the wiring sequence for it and pinout of the motherboard header are not the same....grab the maunal for your motherboard, it should have the pin out info.

What is the brand? What is your OS? I had one (can't remember) brand of hub which worked fine on my emachines 566mhz Celeron and Win ME at home. I tried the same brand on my 1.2ghz Athlon system with w2k at my office and it would not work no matter what I did. Their tech support could not figure it out and exchanging for a new one didn't help. I finally went with a Belkin USB hub. I plugged it in, w2k recognized everthing right away, and I have had no problems whatsoever since.
