Hello,

I have a Compaq at home and it has been crashing and performing extremely slow for some time now. When i realised that there was only 64MB RAM i immediately purchased another 256MB.

This has speeded up my system a bit. Althought it is only 300Mhz CPU. It will suit me for the time been as i am only using for home work.

My problem is that it still crashes. This is getting to be quiet annoying as you all will recognise. Everytime it crashes i get the following code on the Blue Screen;

DPAL Error

Abnormal Parameter Passed in...... in file
.\hdlc.c at line 550

Can somebody please let me know as to what is causing this problem and how can i fix it?

Awaiting eagerly

Ken

Irish Amatuer: Welcome to The PC Guide

This behavior can occur if you are using a Diamond Multimedia SupraMax PCI modem, and you have not installed the latest drivers for the modem or the drivers are damaged.
To resolve this issue, download and install the version 2.1.2.136b or later modem driver, or contact Diamond Multimedia to obtain the latest version of the modem driver software. For information about obtaining the latest software, please visit the following Diamond Multimedia Web site: http://www.diamondmm.com

There may be other causes. Others will chip in no doubt.
