Hi Relztrah,

Close all other windows and fix the following with HJT:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://easy-search.biz
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://easy-search.biz
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://easy-search.biz
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://easy-search.biz
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://easy-search.biz
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://easy-search.biz
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://easy-search.biz
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://easy-search.biz
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://easy-search.biz
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [stcloader] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\stcloader.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [runwin32] C:\WINDOWS\runwin32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [wininet32] C:\WINDOWS\wininet32.exe
O13 - WWW. Prefix: http://

Then reboot into safe mode and find and delete:

stcloader.exe
runwin32.exe
wininet32.exe

Then reboot into normal mode and post a follow up log, just to make sure we got it all.

:)

I also noticed that when I look at Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN settings Use a Proxy Server is checked, with an address there. (I posted this in the Windows forum, but I see now that it's definitely a spyware issue.) Apparently this is the problem with something messing with the Internet settings.

Here's a fresh HJT log:

Relztrah,

How is the computer running? Are you still having problems getting online? Can you access some sites and not others? Is your start page still hijacked?

I have seen your proxy server entries in other logs. Sometimes they are fixed and other times not. Please describe any problems you are having.

Steve,

We're two for two. This old box seems to be running OK now. And it's not automatically setting a proxy server like it was previously. I'll monitor it but I think this was an easy fix.
