I have just installed an AMD 1600+ on my brand new epox card. system reports
"Athlon XP 1050MHz(100x10.5), FSB 200
DRAM CLK : 100MHz"
then hangs on a POST LED reading of 52. According to the manual this is "Test all memory".
1 have 512 Mb PC133 SDRAM in DIMM1. I've tried other memory in here, but
same fault - any ideas anyone

The board is 8KTA3+ with Jumperless board (i.e. - no clock speed jumper!)

Could be a misplaced jumper, check in the bios to see your temperatures also and post back and tell us your temps in degrees Celsius.

You have the manual...try running through the "clear CMOS" routine...probably involves moving a jumper, should be detailed in the manual. The XP series of chips are not the speed that is part of their name the XP 1600 should be around 1400MHz if everything is properly setup.

Hi
Have tried clearing CMOS, also removrd battery for 30 mins to ensure discharge - no result. I cant get into the BIOS to check any temperatures, the system hangs (Code 52 on the LED) after the speed is reported on the screen. Pressing Del key only results in the repeat clicks from the speaker! I am beginning to think that the new (300w) power supply is insufficient!

Hmmmmm. How about this, remove everything except for vid card, RAM, and CPU. Be sure all are seated correctly.
Another thing to try is, pull the board out of the case, place it on a non-conductive surface, and try it.
Let us know how that goes. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
