Anything else you think is relevant:

THE PROBLEM:
Installed a new fan because I thought the cpu working temperature were a little high (around 60 degrees) now it is on a working temperature about 50 degree Celsius. But this did not help with the total freeze.

PROBLEM:
Also important that I bought two Corsair 256 Megs DDR Ram, it's this time I got problems with my computer. But the thing I wonder about it still has problems even if I just use the TwinOS 128 Meg alone. The Problem is after some hours the Computer crashes completely and only thing I can do is to push restart. This is mostly only happening after some hours, but when it has first come then it needs to be off some or it will crash fast again. I have formatted the drive(s) like 3 times or so, and also tried Windows XP with same result. Would be nice with some help.. Btw also upgraded BIOS to 1.7. I know this could be dangerous but I thought it could help wich it didn't sadly.

Yours sincerely

Rolf

Welcome aboard!
Was going to suggest that heat could cause problems - loose connections etc, but your set up looks a little strange - perhaps some of our other techies can give mroe pointers, but the corsair RAM doesn't appear to be quite right for the system - It doesnt't appear to support double-banked RAM (of course it will support 2 identical DIMMs, but they won't work in DDR2 mode)

....... just checked out the specs for the motherboard - 400MHz RAM? Your MOBO has the following specs:

FSB 100/133(200/266)MHz clocks are supported.
Main Memory
- Support six memory banks using three 184-pin DDR DIMM
- Support up to 3GB DDR333/DDR266/DDR200 SDRAM
- Support 3 unbuffered DIMM of 2.5V DDR DRAM

I don't know the voltage specs (or if they are different) for the 400MHz DIMMS, but it is possible that something happened there - I'll see if I can dig around a bit more.

Another thing with the memory - do you now have the 128MB DIMM in slot 0? - a simple thing to check, but most mobos will sulk.

Yeh heat was my first thought but the quick crash after start is odd...

If you have another PC that is compatible, try swapping bits... sorry Foxed me smashing.

PS Any BSOD error messages?

Are you trying to use all your memory (640meg), or just the Corsairs? Win 98se has a problem using more than 512meg. That said, I would be suspicious of the power supply. 250 watt is small, and it may be overheating after running a while. You could install MBM5, and log you temp and voltages. This would give you a report that you could check after each lockup, and help you to isolate the problem.

As pointed out, power supply may be too little, causing those crashes. I would suggest atleast 350-400w for your setup having 2 HDDs, DVD/CDRW combo.

The biggest power sucker could be your graphics card. Don't know about Geforce2 but a Geforce FX 6800 draws nearly 100w of power.

I've bought a new ATC power supply on 360 Watt.

Still no help. Also tried without new ram. No help

Also tried with other harddrives no help.

Also tried Win XP, no help

Still freezes after some hours.

I think it must be the mainboard.

It has to be.. Didn't have this problem with my old board..

Thanks anyhow :)

Is you Computer overclocked? Check the CPU parameters in the COMS to see if it is correct.

Just went to check the voltages of ddr400 ram. - I went to crucial's site, but I assume that the corsair is the same.
DDR400 is 2.6 volts, your system supports 2.5 volts.
Question for some of the other techies - do you think it's possible that the difference in voltages could have damaged something (maybe having the two different types in drew too much current? - just an off-base thought, but I thought I'd mention it.

Can you further define "Computer crashes totally.."

I'm also wondering if it's your graphics card overheating.
