When I tried to power the PC on this morning, via the push-button on the front of the case, all I got was a big fat nothing!

The PC was powered down normally via Windows "shutdown" last night.

The push switch felt a bit "funny" so I took the front of the case to have a look and the switch literally fell to bits!

There just seem to be two wires (black and white) coming to the switch and they are very thin, so I don't think they can really be controlling the power directly. There's a voltage of about 3V across them so I assume this is some sort of "logical" on/off switch?

I assumed that just shorting the two wires together (briefly) would do the trick, but ... nothing, still!

Help please!!!!!!!!!!

Actually that is all it does, momentarily makes contact and releases.

Is the length of time critical? I was just wiggling a screw-driver blade across the contacts on the back of the switch. I was hoping it was just the switch that had gone and nothing more fundamental???
