mslaugh.exe,teekids.exe,isass.exe damn!

i have mslaugh.exe and teekids.exe on my computer before so i deleted it using mcafee but when i run the "trojan guarder" i saw it in the strart up programs, its still running! i used the mcafee again but it says no virus found can i remove those files in the running programs using trojan guarder? will it not harm my computer if i delete them?
and i also have the isass.exe can i end that process bec its like mslaug.exe

These are all virus files! Have you got a current Anti-virus program on that computer?

First, get an on -line scan at either Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp) or Panda A/V (http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm), and let it fix anything it finds.

If the scan cannot run, download Stinger from here (http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/), and follow the instructions on that page. Then run the on line scan. Also install a resident Anti virus program, and keep it updated. AVG free edition from Grisoft.com (www,grisoft.com) is efficient, and well thought of by many of the regulars here.

.......then Download HijackThis 1.98.2 (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html) and extract HijackThis.exe to a convenient, permanent folder, C:\HJT or C:\Program Files\HJT for example. Close all windows and click open HijackThis.exe.

Click Scan, when the scan is complete the scan button will change to Save log. Click Save log, save it as a text file and copy and paste the contents here in your reply.

I agree with David on downloading Stinger on a clean computer, transfer to floppy disc, write protect the disk and then run it on the infected computer after booting into SAFE mode. Some of these trojans and worms make a registry key entry that keeps it coming back and this will help you get control of it. No second Hard Drive, right? Also unplug any network cable when you do the scan to prevent it from hiding/spreading.

teekids.exe is an indicator you have BLASTER. This also means you don't have your Windows patches up to date.
The Stinger advice will give you control back, you need to get the Windows patched though or will be re-infected almost immediately.

Kiko, You have two variants of the Blaster worm. You should take care of those first, before attempting other fixes with HijackThis.

Download W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html) , don't run it yet.

Then get these two patches from Microsoft which will prevent you from getting the worm again.

Now go offline (disconnect from the Internet). Once disconnected, run the removal tool and let it get rid of the worm. Then apply the two patches from MS.

Looks like you got rid of the Blaster worm successfully, but You need to catch up with critical updates/patches (www.windowsupdate.com) to avoid reinfection, while you are at it, it would be a good idea to have your XP and IE updated too.

Now have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

Reboot into Safemode.

Disable System Restore.

To disable System Restore:
1. Log on as Administrator.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop and click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Select Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply > Yes > OK.

While in Safe Mode,delete the following file:

C:\Windows\System32\waumgrd.exe <----This file

Reboot into Normal Mode and re-enable System Restore by following the above procedure and clearing the Turn off System Restore box.

Perform an online scan at housecall.trendmicro.com (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) to make sure that you are clean.

Launch HJT, run a new scan and post back to this thread.

If you mean waumgrd.exe, look for it in the Windows folder or run a search through your hard drive. Make sure that you have enabled viewing hidden files (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000516.htm). If it's still not found, don't bother. The fixing of 04 entry will stop it from running at startup.

ErnieK Yes, that's a legitimate Windows System file, the same one hit by the Sasser worm in fact. I think the lower case L in this case was mistaken for a capitol I since isass is the file posted, rather than [b]l[b]sass, which would be the proper filename.

ive installed the win xp pro w/ sp2 in my computer and now i have many problems..

1. my audio device(FM801 PCI Audio(WDM)) is not working. it says that the device did not passed with the windows logo, something like that. i tried to install it using the driver cd comes with my audio device, it says if i continue installing it, it will imparaired the os and will not function properly, so i did not continue installing it
2. my computer cannot detect the windows firewall. i turned on the firewall and still it was not detected.
