memory issue?

AMD 3000+ winXP 256MB ram---while sitting idle it just went blank (monitor). On restart it gives 3 beeps after running through the cd drives. I have a hard drive led blinking but my monitor has no "windows". The monitor light is orange (as in sleeping). Memory issue? I cannot see a memory post since I get no signal. The video is onboard.

Did you recently change the RAM?

Try the monitor on a different PC and if the problem persists, it's the monitor. The three beeps is not a good sign as it means you failed the POST. Try to go to the site of the bios manfacturer .

So as you can see it varies by the bios manufacturer.
