C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS\WEATHERBUG\WEATHER.EXE

If that is the freeware version, I would suggest dumping WeatherBug altogether. I'm sure others will tell you the same.
When they first introduced that program, it was pretty good. But then they started adding crap after crap. It's a big adware program now. :(

I would suggest Weather Watcher (http://www.singerscreations.com/AboutWeatherWatcher.asp) as an alternative. Not as pretty, but just as effective. :)

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DDHELP.EXE
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ddhelp/
Description: DirectDraw Helper, a part of DirectX and is used for graphics related services.

Might have to reinstall DirectX.

If you installed Weatherbug willingly your log is probably clean of malware. If you choose to remove Weatherbug which is recommended, please follow these steps:

Make sure the program is not running before uninstalling it, right-click on WeatherBug icon in the system tray and choose Exit or Terminate.

Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall

Weatherbug
mysearch/myway/mywebsearch

Run HijackThis, Tick the boxes next to all of the following entries, close all other windows, preferably have only HijackThis running, then click Fix Checked. Many of them may not be there.

Delete the following folders, if they remain

C:\PROGRAM FILES\AWS\WEATHERBUG
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWAY OR
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYSEARCH

Reboot and post a fresh log for follow up using HijackThis 1.98.2 (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html).

I don't understand............ the help files are gone!!............reinstall the help files?.........

What help files are gone, care to explain ?

The windows help files are not working right. Start, Help, troubleshooter. ALL other help files are there. The troubleshooters are listed on the left and I can get to the first page of the troubleshooter on the right BUT when I click on the problem, and click next the right hand screen is BLANK!! The left hand screen listing all things windows is still there.

Does windows have a fix for this problem?

Thanks!!

Your log looks clean of Malware now. :)

Since when you are having this problem with Windows troubleshooters, Did you recently apply any Windows Updates?

Check whether you have these files in C:\Windows\Help folder:

Tshoot98.chm
Tshoot.ocx

Yes, I recently did the critical updates for 98SE

The missing files have been going on ever since I have had this pc. 1999. I think it may be tied to one of these three programs:

Quick time
Real Player
Windows Player

Except for windows player I need the other 2 for my nursing classes.

You might also go to this thread. It discusses this problem too.

http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18142

I did everything recommended in that post but here I am again still fighting the same thing. When I reformatted this time I used a different PC to make the startup disk.

This is so frustrating. It's a good thing I have 4 other pc's that have 98SE installed on them so I can use their help files. I would REALLY like to use my own.

These 2 files are on the hard drive. However, I can't open the second one. I have no clue as to what program to use to open it. The other one opened the help files at the troubleshooters.

Thanks for trying to help me.

We can try reinstalling the troubleshooters. For that you need Windows install CD or have CAB files on Hard drive. If you don't have the CAB files on the hard drive, insert your Windows install CD in to the drive.

1. Rename tshoot.ocx to tshoot.old
2. Go to C:\Windows\inf folder
3. Find and Right click on 'tshoot.inf' and click 'install' and follow the prompts.

Hopefully this will reinstall the troubleshooters and replace any corrupted registry entries.
