Adserve2

There is a computer up at the local Fire Department that has adserve2 running on it which gives a message similar to the msblasater worm stating that you have 60 seconds before your computer shuts down. I found the info on how to remove it here http://www.travelforum.org/thailand/archive0405/45244.html
But I was wandering if anyone know of a update/patch that I could send up to them that someone not very familiar with computers could run. Any help would be appreciated.

To prevent this, you need an up to date antivirus. Is this avserve2 or adserve2?

It can't hurt to run Stinger (http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/) and see if it finds any worms.

In addition, if the shutdown message does not give you enough time to actually run the scan, or stinger, it can be aborted. When the message first appears, go to Start>run, and type
shutdown -a<enter>

Try running Stinger in SAFE mode, it should get through the scan. Update Windows patches, then AV.
