When I set up this computer about four months ago, my first PC after many Macs, I have no idea what info I used for administrator. How can I determine what I did, or change it so that it won't come up again? I think that this is my second post, however I do follow the forum almost daily. I feel this is the best way for me to learn about the XP operating system and PC's in general. Thank you
My computer is a compaq SR1020NX w/1gig ram, 80 gig HD, Cable modem.

Hoping that you have Xp home it's pretty easy to check how you set things up.
Left click the green start button
left click on control panel
make sure control panel in classic view [on left side menu.
left click user accounts
From there you can see and change anything you did as long as the account your using is a administrator account.
If you set a password and don't remember it I myself have forgotten how to change that. I think you can do it right there.
If Xp pro a little different with more security and I really don't want to give you any bad info on that.

Thanks for answering. The software is windows XP Home. I am trying to download SP2 to a CD for my friends who have dial up internet connections. When I downloaded it to this computer it immeadiatly installed the upgrade. Normally when I download anything I send it to a "download folder" on my desk top. I went to windows update, clicked administrator button to see if there was acopy I could download to the desk top...

Find someone who has a copy mailed to them: MS disk (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31357)
The complete network download is 278MB, the installation uses what it needs for the computer being updated and cleans up the rest when finished.
It works for XP Home and XP Pro.
