Hi,
I have a machine that suppose to have a PIII 733, but when I reboot it shows that I have 440Mz, Is my CPU going bad.???? Or is there a jumper that I need to reset?

Are you sure that is supposed to be 700Mhz? maybe is really a 400. BTW, yes there is a switch, the clock multiplier, that in your case might be set low (underclocked) . You should check on the mobo specs. and see how you can play with it.

Thanks andreadebiase, Yes I check the chip and that's what it said it is. Okay I will check the manual for my Mobo and play wit it.
How do you know if the processor goes bad.. is this one syntom, Or this doesn't seems to be that. it may just be that the switch may got reset to a low, if that's waht it is!

You should also check the CPU temp.
The Intel chip will throttle down If it over heats.
Check the CPU fan for dust build up.
Depending on your Bios you should check the settings for your CPU speed.
And set them correctly for the cpu you have installed
