As you can probably tell, I'm somewhat new at this. But I am having a problem with a computer. When I start it up, I start hear the error beep, comtinuously, and my screen stays off. I did try to put a different, working HD in to see if that's the problem, but it does the same thing. I don't know if anyone heard about my problem, but I will surely appreciate some suggestions.

Hello zgoldlazerz,

Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

A little more information would be helpful...

Is this a new build? Was it working properly before the current problem? Is it under warranty?

If it is a proprietary computer (i.e. Dell, HP, etc.) would you furnish the model number?

What motherboard? If you know the BIOS that would be helpful for diagnosing the beep code...

Without being able to see the boot screen it's doubtful you can figure out which BIOS you have, but a look through the BIOS Troubleshooting (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/index.htm) section of the PC Guide it says continuous beeping means memory or video problem for Award BIOS, same for AMI. I've usually found that to be accurate.

Reseat both video card and RAM, and be SURE to shut the power off to the computer before doing so.
