View Full Version : 98 - XP networking
On my Win 98 computer, I have certain folders shared. One XP Home computer on my network sees them and the other doesn't. The one that sees the folders is used and the one that doesn't is new. I am wondering if there is some setting in "network places" that allows Windows XP to see individual folders and that option was just enabled on the used one. Is there such an option?

Is the workgroup name the same for all the machines?
I can't believe that I hadn't thought of that. Just a second...
How do you check that on Windows XP?

R-Click My Computer >> Properties >> Computer Name :- The Change Button
Then all three of the computers that I mentioned are on "OFFICE".

I had a similar problem on my home network that I never completely resolved.
However, if I selected 'view entire network' and then 'microsoft windows network' and drill down that way, I could access the shared folders I couldn't view elsewhere...
