RE: Partion Magic 7, WIN XP Home, & check file system error on start-up.
After using Partion Magic 7 to re-size two logical partions on a 60 gig HD in an AMD 2400 laptop running WIN XP Home, I get a check file system for consistency type message during the system start-up. It is not for my primary or boot drive. No errors are found but the message continues on each start. Otherwise, the system works perfectly -- the re-sized partions on drive D and E are recognized and are the right size.
I have run the XP error checking utilities as well as the Partition Magic utilities. They have run during the reboot sequence and extended the error checking routine I am trying to overcome. The utilities find no errors. All drives are NTFS. I have not found a solution on the Symantec Internet site. Should I re-format the drive in question? Will this solve the file system consistency issue?
