PCI Simple Communications Reinstall

I have been living with an un-identified PCI Simple COmmunications controller for some time, and I think it may be hindering me in ways I am unsure about. I was wondering how I would go about reinstalling one of these? I have an AMD Athlon processor...

This has something to do with your modem. I would remove the item from device mangler and re-start the system. Have the driver disc/CD for the modem handy and use it to install the driver. This should clear it up.

Take that a step further, boot into Safe Mode and remove ALL modems from Device Manager, then reboot with the modem drivers handy.

Use the F8 key to get into Safe Mode. Just tap it every second or two while it boots, it should give you a boot menu.
