Hello Everyone: I am on a friends pc windowsME and he wants to remove the "Log Off Username" from the Start Menu. I have a Registry hack here>>>> Remove Username from the Start Menu>>>>>
Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\ Policies\Explorer
Value Name: NoUserNameInStartMenu Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) Value Data: (0 = display username, 1 = hide username) Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called 'NoUserNameInStartMenu' Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect. but it did not work has anyone tried this or have a different way of removing it? Thanks, Tom

Please take care, if unsure dont.
Under winXP Pro
in start\run typr gpedit.msc
under User Configuration open Administrative Templates then click on Start Menu Taskbar, in the right hand pain double click on Remove Logoff on the Start Menu and Enable it, this will remove Logoff from start menu, above Turn Off Computer.

Thanks Paul, This worked>> Start >> Settings >> Taskbar and Start Menu >> Advanced
Uncheck "Display Logoff" Shanmuga: I tried changing it to NoLogOff and I still could not get it work. We would like to use the registry hack because it is more permanent! Can you double check the instructions I have at the beginning and see if I left out anything? Thanks, Tom

The easy way to do it is to use TweakUI:
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/powertoys/networking/nttweakui.asp
If you want to keep someone from casually messing with your tweakui settings, get them the way you want and then use tweakui to remove tweakui from the control panel! (If you want to access it again, just search for tweakui.cpl - in Windows 9x, it'll be in C:\Windows\System.)
