This time I'm going to wait as the version and extensions I am running are just fine.
I think I read in their forums that the final 1.0 release is sometime in Oct-Nov.
Unless there is a security fix along the way or someone comes up with a great reason I think I will let other people test this version.
I'm a happy camper with this one
Mark :)

Hey Mark,
I always say that too, but I have it downloaded and ready to install already.
:D
The press release says it has some security updates:
Security improvements: the new release provides additional protection to users against spoofing attacks, the practice of tricking users into believing they are on a trusted site when they are not. When a user visits a secure site, Firefox now highlights the web site address and clearly displays the name of the web site. Firefox also includes a number of other security improvements and fixes, several of which were identified as part of the Mozilla Foundation's new Security Bug Bounty Program.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.....
I'll give the site a look later and then wait for my extensions to catch up
Was there a new Java plug in or did that go from one version to the next?
Mark :) :)

:D
Hehe....me too. Not installed yet mind you, but ready. :p
I've really been looking forward to this release because, um...well because, oh heck I don't know! Just because it's v1.0 I guess. :p

Well as usual i went ahead and did it.
No problems except one extension [ie view] not ready yet.
Everything else went fine.
They tell you what will work and what won't during the installation.
I only had to redo 2 extensions.
Make sure to delete before reinstalling extensions or it won't work.
Mark
Just a further note.
I am finding that it loads faster and goes from page to page faster.
Lost the log in again but we will see.

Found a work around for ie view and everything is working great.
I see no real difference which in my case is good!!!

They just got Allow Right Click fixed for 1.0-PR, this extension stops scripts that prevent you from right clicking.

Any of you tried Ctrl+F, looks useful.

Thanks Shanmuga. I had no idea that was there. It will come in handy.
I had downloaded it when it first came out, but hadn't installed it until today. Seems noticably faster in loading poages, and in loading itself up. I am so hooked on this thing now, I hate when I need to go back to use IE.

Actually I have been finding occasional pop under ads with this version, never on 0.9.3

I am getting really pissed off with this version.
There are so many little problems that I think I am going to try a new install

Interesting.
Been watching this thread. Maybe I'll hold off a bit.
Still using 0.9.3 and happy.
Maybe I'll go with the "final, final, final" release of 1.0? :p

Hey Jab,
I've fixed everything except the mail which I don't use anyway.
Most of the problems were my own problems not firefox.
At least I think I did

My wife just told me the computer was freaking out. It was firefox going crazy flipping back and forth between a popup advisory and no advisory or something like that. I was able to click at the right time and set it to allow the popup for that site and it stopped.
If that kind of thing continues to happen I might reinstall the last version until the final release. :(

I fixed all my problems but where would you get an old version from? Just in case :)

Hey Mark. I still have the setup file for the last version. I am not sure, but I would think you could get somewhere.
If you can't find it I would be happy to send it to you if you have email turned on through the forum. I don't think it can be sent through pm. Or if there is some other way you can think of.

Thanks,
If I decide to go back I'll let you know.
I have basically worked out all my "kinks" in the new version

From the firefox site, they keep all the older ones available in case you want to go backwards.
I will try to find you a direct link.texturizer (http://texturizer.net/firefox/index.html)

Thanks,
I am going to download it and save it in my exe file.
I usually keep all my exe. files and then put them on disk [of course I didn't with this one]
Thanks again, Mark :)

I rolled back to 0.9.3 for a week or so, the PR is just too buggy.

Mark,
This site posts builds of Firefox optimized for specific CPUs:
http://www.moox.ws/tech/mozilla/
Use at your own risk, they are in 3 flavours.
The "M" builds you download are not typical installers. They are self-extracting zip files (compressed with 7-Zip) that will extract to the default folders of \Firefox or\Thunderbird respectively, unless otherwise specified. To install on top of a preexisting install, simply download the file you need, unzip to a temp directory, copy of the contents of \Firefox or \Thunderbird in the temp directory, and paste into the \Firefox or \Thunderbird directory of the existing install (likely C:\Program Files\Firefox or C:\Program Files\Thunderbird).

I rolled back to 0.9.3 for a week or so, the PR is just too buggy. Yep. Uncle Billy warned me about these "new fangled" Browsers.
Once again, I'm glad I didn't bother yet.
Like I said. Always looking out for me since I was just a kid. :p

Actually now that I have worked thru most of the problems, except for the new mail button, it's really not bad.
Most of the things were really not browser related but other programs working with firefox.
It never crashes and is much faster.
The memory leaks are less also.
Not perfect but not the worst either.
From what I can see it's trying to read aol mail yet open messages in oe6.
Funny thing that on this computer in my wifes profile the new mail button works and opens oe6. Of course she does not use this or cares about firefox or for that matter this computer. :)

Just downloaded and installed Firefox 1.0PR newest version, works better. I figured an additional 30 days was enough time to get it right.

Tell me if you get the new mail button under tools to work and if so what mail program are you using?
Strange thing on this computer under my wifes name it works, under mine it does not.
I have tried everything including starting all over and wiping everything out including old profile.
I have shortcut for oe6 on quick launch so not that big a deal but you know us "geeks" like everything to work :)

I do know this: the Forum server recognizes my name better on FF v1.0PR than on FF v0.9.3 which makes logging in a bit easier.
