Further to my previous posts,I now have an AMD Athlon 1600XP sitting on a new mobo,an MSI K7T Turbo2.
I got home from the shop, fitted everything and switched on.Windows detected my new hardware and installed all the drivers for it,straight from Windows.
However,I have a disk with drivers for the mobo, which was in the mobo box.The problem now is,I dont know what to delete or not in safe mode. Its not like display adaptors or a single thing which is plainly obvious what to delete, there is`nt a "motherboard drivers" to click on,so what do I actually delete in safe mode, before installing the drivers?.
I have to say though, everything is running fine with the windows VIA drivers, but I would hate to think I was`nt at full potential with regards to using the supplied drivers!!.Please advise!!!.
I have noticed that during the POST,it doesnt detect or mention any CPU.It did the first time it booted up,but doesnt now.
I also ran 3D Mark 2001 and got a lousy score of 926!!!!!.That is ridiculous!!!.My old PIII500 got a better score than that!!.

The VIA driver package should include a detection routine and an uninstall feature for the previous set of dirvers...

Also it is quite likely that yoour low score is the result of haveing the BIOS set to the default values, it may not be using the full potential of the memory, video card or other hardware....check and see if there is an "optimal" or "perfomance" setting for your BIOS and then work from there.
