Monitor Problem?

Is this a monitor problem? Within 3 - 10 minutes of starting computer the monitor turns off and then immediately turns on again.
This happens approx. 1 in 5 start-ups and nothing else is affected. Nothing appears in Event Viewer logs.
Monitor is HP Pavilion MX70 and OS is Win. XP Home Edition SP1.

Have you checked your power-saving configuration settings?

My monitor is set to "turn off" after 10 minutes of "inactivity".

Any tiny movement of my mouse [walking about causing vibrations] will bring the monitor back to life.

Quite possibly it is a monitor problem, does the status light stay green or does it go orange or off when this occurs?

The status light goes off.
I don't use a screensaver and 'turn off monitor' has been set to 'never' well before this problem surfaced.

Check the power cord on the back of the monitor it may be loose.
