Hi,

I have a Thinkpad R51 and wanted to use the 'IBM Update Connector' facility to check if my system software was up todate ... however upon use it just 'hung' and did nothing.

I have downloaded and managed to install the latest version however upon starting the programme and accepting the liscence the programme just hangs at the 'opening'. When I go to 'Task manager' to close it down it does not show as running even tho it is sitting on my screen and I have to log off to close it??

Does anyone have any suggestions, I am running Windows XP pro and service pack 2

- tks NZerger

Presumably you have downloaded and attempted to istall version 6.10 as per http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-46134

Perhaps the best thing would be to uninstall it and try to reinstall it from fresh - ensuring nothing else is running at the time. If you cant even get started try safe mode or last known good (F8 at startup) and either uninstall it from there or try system restore.

I also agree that the best choice is to install the newest version.

However if you only want to kill the process using the task manager, you can search for a process called "javaw.exe"
