Is this a virus

I like go into my documents and icons are different than they suppose to be. For example a text document has a adobe acrobat icon. Is this a virus, if so do yall know what it could be. I fed up http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

Di, could be that the icon cache has become corrupted....you can try a simple test...boot up and bring up the startup menu, then choose DOS (you running 98 or ME?) at the prompt type cd\windows...when you are in the windows directory type del_shelli~1, then reboot.

Does the system file checker do the same thing as you said.
